"come on chap!" the conservative rhetorical tactic...

Do you really think I was being condescending? I meant it in all sincerity. I always try to say what I mean and mean what I say. I do not speak down to people. When I wrote "buddy" I meant just that. I think of you as a friend.
I know you didn't mean it that way... But I truly do think that line of argument is condescending... maybe i'm wrong but it seems to be the logical fallacy of anecdotal evidence... and I always see it with a "come on chap!" attitude... Maybe other readers can speak to this?

Its a classic conservative tactic used to badger people out of trying to come up with social policy that may help people who aren't the smartest, fastest, or most desirable people in the community... they are still people...

but don't worry we're good. I appreciate the fact that you respond to me personally with any concerns...
You are a driven, well thought individual. You took initiative to accomplish certain goals. I see "hard work, drive, and passion." You see "biology." Tomatoes, to-mah-toes. Neither of us are wrong. We just "are."
So if you are interchanging hard work and biology you don't see it as something in the person but something that is the person or outside of that persons control... which would mean you are only making a case of cheering on those who by their nature are inclined to be successful... that has nothing to do with social justice, or even an efficient allocation of resources in a market system... you'd destroy a market if you only helped those who could help themselves... lassies faire is destructive at its core... not constructive... if you need a source see Peter Singer's chapter on taxation in his book about Bush's ethics "ethics of good and evil" (or something of the like) Also see nobel prize winnion economist Herbert Simon's work on social captial...
I shared my past experiences to illustrate a point, not to make a hasty conclusion. I took critical thinking, mind you. It's the only class I made a perfect score in. I'm well aware of various fallacies, including ones you made. I choose to give others charity. Especially others I respect.
we all use logical fallacies... its necessary in argumentation... and when called on it a person must back up and restate their argument--or admit they are using a shortcut because they lack one...
I have met no individuals incapable of improving their situation without learning the means to do so. I sincerely don't see insurmountable circumstances in my world view. It is entirely possible we both examined the same data and came to different conclusions based on our differing opinions of the world.
I have and do all the time... hell Doctors and lawyers who have basic functional capacity and not ability to reach a level of competency...

all the way down the economic ladder. I just look at things through the goal of protecting and empowering people. Economic exploitation (i.e. wealthy people who reap most if not all the rewards from our government... complaining about levels of taxation that are destructively low and modest) is not just something i'm going to sit back and smile and say we see the world differently. It may be true that we do... but our economic health and long term sustainability of our economy is at the heart of the matter... Hence our levels of economic distribution are back to the levels not seen since the 1920's and our economy is in a major quandary. 30 years of conservative economic policy will do that to an economy!
Again, I ask you to send me links to specific data. Or paste them. I don't comment here to nag or annoy you. I'm here to learn through discourse. If I am in er, please cite specific data. If it's an issue you wrote about in the past, show me the link.
At this point i'm not sure what specific data you are asking for... i've made a number of arguments...

just hit them point by point... and go back to them if I skip one or miss a step...

also not everything is a the tip of my tongue... years of school has left me with things that I know... but will have to go back to drum up the info on...
